Tigers fall to No. 23 Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – Memphis women's tennis narrowly lost 4-3 to No. 23 Ole Miss in a non-conference match on Tuesday. The Tigers are now 0-5 on the season.

Memphis got off to a slow start as Ole Miss swept the doubles courts but had a strong showing in singles with efforts led by seniors Laura Bente and Katherine Cao along with freshman Sophie Abrams.

Bente set the pace for the Tigers as she defeated Ole Miss' Anna Vrbenska with 6-3, 6-2 sets. Abrams followed up with a victory over Ole Miss' 39th ranked Sabina Machalova with a 6-4, 6-2 decision on the court. Cao went on to defeat Reka Zadori with 6-3, 6-4 sets.
