Tigers head to Houston Saturday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Playing for the third time in eight days, the Memphis women's basketball team faces the Houston Cougars on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Memphis will look to split the season series after dropping their Dec. 22 meeting with the Cougars at home, 75-63.

Memphis is coming off a difficult loss to Cincinnati, falling 73-62 on Wednesday at Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Melissa McFerrin's squad held an 11-point edge in the third quarter, but a late Cincinnati surge turned the tables. Senior forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu (20 points, 10 rebounds) posted her eighth double-double of the season in the loss, while senior forward Alana Davis (10 points, 10 rebounds) secured her first double-double since Feb. 16, 2019. Sophomore point guard Aerial Wilson led the team with eight assists.

>>2nd in rebounding average (40.4 per game), trailing only USF (46.4)
>>2nd in rebounding margin (+5.7 per game), trailing only USF (+11.5)
Mendjiadeu leads the American Athletic Conference in double-doubles (8), rebounds per game (11.6) and offensive rebounds per game (4.6), while Wilson ranks second in assists per game (7.15) and A:TO ratio (2.11).
Scouting the Cougars
Houston beat Temple on the road on Wednesday, 89-52, by racing out to a 24-10 lead after the first quarter. Ronald Hughey's crew never looked back after that, as four Cougars scored in double figures, including Britney Onyeje (19 points), Laila Blair (18), Dymond Gladney (13), and Miya Crump (13).
