Tigers Fall at No. 17/17 Houston, 31-13

HOUSTON – The University of Memphis Tigers fell to the No. 17/17-ranked Houston Cougars, 31-13, on Friday night at TDECU Stadium in Houston.

The setback moves Memphis' record on the season to 5-6 overall and to 2-5 in American Athletic Conference (AAC) play. The Cougars improve to 10-1 on the year and to 8-0 in league action.

Wide receiver Calvin Austin III led the Tiger offense on Friday night, posting his sixth 100-yard receiving game of the season with a game-high 103 yards on five receptions. True freshman quarterback Seth Henigan completed 21-of-45 passes for 208 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Running back Asa Martin was on the receiving end of a five-yard score from Henigan.

Defensively, linebacker JJ Russell had a game-high nine tackles to go with one interception and one quarterback hurry, while defensive back Rodney Owens had eight stops with a pick. Xavier "Zay" Cullens totaled five tackles, one sack and one pass breakup on the night.

The Memphis Tigers will return to Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium to host Tulane on Senior Night on Saturday, Nov. 27. The game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff and will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
