Tigers Turn In Second-Straight Road Clean Sheet, 3-0 at UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Memphis Tigers picked up their second-straight road shutout win, handing UCF its first American Athletic Conference loss of the year Sunday night in Orlando, Fla., 3-0.
Memphis improves to 3-6-1 (2-2-0 AAC) with the victory, which came after a 2-0 triumph at Temple Wednesday. UCF is now 5-4-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the conference on the year.
Until tonight, since 2017 UCF was 15-0-3 in matches contested in the month of October.
KEY MOMENTS

KEY MOMENTS
- Memphis got on the board in the 36th minute, with Maxi Galizzi touching a corner kick cross over to Artur De Luca who put it home.
- Freshman goalkeeper Colin Welsh made a key save three minutes into the second half to keep the 1-0 lead.
- Toby McCallum saved a potential goal with a fantastic tackle in the 58th minute.
- De Luca and Galizzi linked up for the second time in the 59th minute, making it 2-0 Tigers.
- The Knights had a dangerous free kick in the 73rd minute deep in Memphis' territory, but Welsh saved the header try.
- UCF again had a look in the 82nd minute, but Welsh made a diving save and then knocked away the ensuing corner kick.
- Gabriel Christensen sealed the win with a chip-shot goal in the 85th minute off an assist from Galizzi, his third of the match.
- Welsh made seven saves in the match, with many coming against heavy UCF pressure down the stretch.
- De Luca's goals were his first two of the season, and Christensen scored his second.
- Galizzi has a team-high 11 points on the year, with four goals and three assists.
- Memphis had not had back-to-back shutout wins since Oct. 20 and Oct. 23, 2018, both of which were also on the road (at Tulsa, at Lipscomb).
- The Tigers were highly efficient in the match, scoring their three goals on five shots on-goal.
- Memphis now returns home to play SMU Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
- After that, the Tigers head to South Florida on Friday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. CT.
