Memphis Ready for Steelwood Collegiate Invitational this Weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis men's golf team will head to Loxley, Ala. this weekend to compete in the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational. The two-day tournament gets started on Saturday, Oct. 30 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 31. Live scoring for the event can be found at GoTigersGo.com.
The 54-hole tournament will be hosted by South Alabama and will be played at the par 72, 7,096-yard Steelwood Country Club. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT on Saturday and a double-tees start on Sunday at 7:40 a.m. CT.
The 14-team field includes Memphis, No. 32 UAB, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, No. 41 Missouri, North Alabama, Rice, Rutgers, South Alabama and Wisconsin.
Last time out, Tyran Snyders and Esteban Vazquez earned top-10 finishes at the Quail Valley/Jake Owen Collegiate, helping the Tigers tie for fifth. Snyders tied for fourth with a score of 206 (-10), while Vazquez tied for sixth with a total of 208 (-8).
In a loaded field that featured six teams then ranked in the top-34 of the Golfweek rankings, the Tigers beat No 12 USF, No. 29 Michigan State, No. 30 Indiana and No. 34 Kent State. Memphis tied with No. 27 Northwestern.
