Tigers Set for Final Two Home Games of Regular Season
Oct 26, 2021 | Men's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers wrap up the home portion of the regular season this week, hosting Temple Wednesday and South Florida Sunday. Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+, and live stats are also available.
"It's an exciting week for us with two home games in front of our fans," Memphis head coach Richard Mulrooney said. "The Temple match is as big as you would expect it to be as we try to stay in the hunt for the playoffs. It's going to be our typical do-or-die match against Temple, and we're scrapping to get our points to confirm our spot in the conference tournament.
"It will be a physical match, one where neither team backs down. Whoever can make the least number of unforced errors will be the victor. It will be a fight, and we wouldn't expect anything else."
Memphis (4-8-1, 3-4-0 American Athletic Conference) is in fourth place in the conference standings, one game behind third-place SMU. The Tigers finish the regular season at SMU on Friday, Nov. 5.
Temple (2-9-2, 0-7-0 AAC) and South Florida (4-7-1, 2-5-0 AAC) are behind the Tigers in the table.
On Sunday, Memphis will be honoring the contributions of Artur De Luca, Maxi Galizzi, Ford Hunt, Parker Lackland, Erik Sigman and Robin Walsh on Senior Night.
"Our senior leadership this season speaks volumes," Mulrooney said. "This group has helped changed the culture going back even seven or eight months since the spring season. We will be forever grateful to them, and we're hoping to reward them with a conference tournament berth."
Following the game at SMU, the American Athletic Conference Championship, which includes the top-four teams in the conference, will be held at the home site of the top seed Nov. 10 and Nov. 13.
