Tigers suffer setback in Starkville

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's tennis fell 6-1 to Mississippi State on Friday. The Tigers are now 0-4 on the season.
Memphis pair Katherine Cao and Aran Teixido Garcia defeated Mississippi State duo Chloe Cirotte and Tamara Racine with a 6-4 set, but ultimately Mississippi State took the doubles point after claiming courts two and three.
In singles, Aran Teixido Garcia defeated Magda Adaloglou with a 6-4 decision in the first set but dropped the second set with a 2-6 decision. She secured the win with a 1-0 final in the third set tiebreaker.
Freshman Sophie Abrams also had a strong showing in singles. She defeated Tamara Racine 6-0 in the first set, but Racine answered with 6-4, 7-6 sets to claim court one.
Mississippi State claimed five of the six singles courts.
