Tigers face Cincinnati Wednesday

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis women's basketball team will take on Cincinnati at Fifth Third Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. CT. The matchup will be available on ESPN+. The Tigers lead the overall series 34-22 but fell to the Bearcats 94-52 in the AAC Quarterfinals on Mar. 7, 2020.

Memphis has not seen action since falling to Tulsa 72-68 on Jan. 9. The Tigers have since had contests against Wichita State (Jan. 13) postponed and USF (Jan. 17) canceled due to health and safety concerns. Against the Golden Hurricane, Jatyjia 'Tye' Jones recorded a season-high 19 points and Madison Griggs totaled four three-pointers.

The Tigers are led in scoring by senior forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu with 15.2 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounding as she averages 11 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Aerial Wilson averages 6.9 assists per game making her the team leader and second in the AAC in the category. The Tigers average 63.1 points per game on 39.2 percent shooting from the field.

A Look at Cincinnati
Cincinnati recently fell to UCF 57-41 in Orlando on Sunday. Against the Knights, junior IImar'I Thomas scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Junior Destiny Haymer scored all 10 of her points in the second half. She also made a pair of 3-pointers to go with two steals and two assists. Sophomore Caitlyn Wilson matched her season high with eight points and a pair of threes.

The Bearcats are led in scoring by IImar'I Thomas with 23.9 points per game. She also leads the team with 8.4 rebounds per contest. Additionally, she paces Cincinnati with 33 assists this season. Thomas has earned two AAC Player of Week recognitions and she leads the conference in three categories – points per game, free throw percentage and field goal percentage. The Bearcats average 61.7 points per game on 40.8 percent shooting from the field.
