Women's Tennis opens AAC play with win over USF

DENTON, Texas – Memphis women's tennis opened American Athletic Conference play with a 4-0 win over the USF Bulls Friday afternoon. The win moves the Tigers to 6-4 on the year.
Memphis got off to a fast start, claiming the doubles point after winning Courts 2 and 3. On Court 2, the pair of Katherine Cao and Alisha Reayer picked up a 6-3 win, while Josephine Cao and Claire Sullivan took a 6-2 win on Court 3.
The Tigers continued the momentum into singles play, taking Courts 4, 5 and 6 in quick succession.
"Proud of the way the girls competed. We're starting to be consistent up and down the lineup," head coach Hayden Perez said. "It was nice to get off to a great start in doubles, the girls brought lots of energy today."
Hannah Davies notched a 6-2, 6-1 win on Court 4, notching her second-consecutive singles win of the season. Lina Hohnhold continued her singles streak, winning her fifth in a row. Hohnhold is 6-2 on the year in singles.
Katherine Cao, in on Court 6, earned a 6-3, 6-4 win to clinch the match for the Tigers, the team's sixth win in its last eight outings.
Memphis stays in Denton, Texas to face the hosting North Texas Mean Green tomorrow at noon.
