Tigers wait for NCAA Championships Selection Show on Tuesday.

MURRAY, Ky. – University of Memphis' Levi Clark and Taylor Gibson both shot 1171 aggregates to lead the Tigers to an NCAA Sectional Qualifier victory over UT Martin Sunday.

Memphis now waits for Tuesday's NCAA Championships announcement of the eight-team field. The selection show is at 2 p.m. (CT) Tuesday, Feb. 25 on NCAA.com. The NCAA Championships are set for Mar. 13-14 in Lexington, Ky. (University of Kentucky, host).

The Tigers entered the NCAA Sectional Qualifier with a 4675.0 average, which is half of the determining score for the NCAA Championships. The other half was Memphis' 4656 score on Sunday. The Tigers sit with a 4665.5 season aggregate after Sunday's match.

The Tigers defeated the Skyhawks 4656-4628. The teams split the disciplines, with Memphis taking smallbore 2312-2283 and UT Martin winning air rifle 2345-2344.

Clark and Gibson finished second and third, respectively, in aggregate. Gibson won the smallbore individual title with a 585 score and was fourth in air rifle (586). Clark placed second in both smallbore (581) and air rifle (590).

Tigers Tidbits

Senior Levi Clark recorded his highest scores of the 2020 spring semester with his 1171 aggregate, 581 smallbore and 590 air rifle scores. The last time this season Clark put up numbers like that was in the final match of the fall semester at Jacksonville State's Gamecock Invitational in mid-November. He shot 585 in smallbore and 591 in air rifle for a 1176 aggregate at that match.
Taylor Gibson, a freshman, posted a 1170 or higher aggregate for the fourth time in the last six matches. In both matches held at Murray State this season, Gibson shot 1171 aggregates in the Jan. 24 Withrow Invitational and Sunday's NCAA Sectional Qualifier.
David Crenshaw and Arielle Kimm both improved on their NCAA Sectional Qualifier performances from a year ago. Crenshaw added 16 points to his aggregate from last year (1141 to 1157) and also improved his scores in both disciplines. Kimm increased her aggregate from 1146 in 2019 to 1155 Sunday. She also improved her smallbore score.
