Feb 20, 2020 | Women's Tennis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's tennis heads north for a pair of matches this weekend, traveling to Minneapolis, Minn. The Tigers will face the hosting Gophers on Friday before playing Mizzou on Saturday.
Match time against Minnesota is set for 4 p.m., followed by the match against Missouri on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Baseline Tennis Center.
The weekend is a return date from last season, when Memphis hosted the Gophers and Tigers. Memphis fell to Mizzou 4-3 before rallying to defeat Minnesota 6-1.
Despite inclement weather last week in Florida, the Tigers were able to pick up a win over Florida International last Sunday. Capped by a win on Court 6 from Lina Hohnhold, the Tigers have won three straight matches and four of their last five.
These two matches are numbers two and three of eight-straight on the road for Memphis.
Minnesota, winners of seven in a row, has hosted its last six matches at home, adding seven- and eight-straight this weekend. Of the seven wins, only one is not a sweep, but was a 4-1 finish over Iowa. Mizzou and Minnesota played to a 4-3 finish in favor of the Gophers last year in Memphis.
Missouri heads to Minneapolis with an 8-2 record, having only played one match on the road. The Tigers have won three-straight matches, the last of which coming from a double-header against SEMO on Monday.
