Madison Griggs continues to inch closer to Memphis' single-season three-point record

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The road swing continues for the University of Memphis women's basketball team as the Tigers head to Wichita State for a contest Wednesday evening. Tipoff at the Charles Koch Arena is slated for 6:30 p.m. and will have a local broadcast streamed to ESPN3.

Wednesday's matchup against Wichita State is the only time the Tigers and the Shockers will meet during the regular season. It also marks the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools, dating back to 2008. The series is tied at three games each, with Memphis taking the most recent game in Wichita by a score of 71-50 on Jan. 12, 2019.

Junior forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu continues to put up solid numbers for the Tigers. Last week, she averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in a win against Tulane and road setback at No. 4/6 UConn. Her efforts last week led her to her third American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll nod.

Freshman guard Madison Griggs knocked down five more three-pointers on the road at UConn, inching closer to the single-season record of 70 made triples set by Alex Winchell during the 2009-10 season. Griggs' 65 treys this season rank second in the AAC and now rank tied for fifth on Memphis' all-time chart.

Griggs hits her three-pointers at a clip of 41.9 percent, third-best in The American. She ranks third in the league in freshmen scoring at 9.8 points per game and first among freshmen in three-point field goal percentage.

At UConn, junior transfer Julan McDonald posted her first start for the Blue and Gray. McDonald averages 5.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game for Memphis.

A Look At Wichita State
Wichita State enters Wednesday's midweek with a 13-10 overall record and 5-5 mark in the American Athletic Conference. The Shockers are winners of their last two games.

Two of the Shockers' setbacks this season are to teams that Memphis has handed a defeat (Tulane and SMU). Wichita State has already defeated Temple and ECU twice this season.

Mariah McCully leads the team offensively with 13.1 points per game and in steals with 40. Seraphine Bastin is the team's leading rebounder, snagging 5.3 per contest. Offensively, the Shockers average 64.5 points per game while allowing its opponents 64.1 points per contest.

Keitha Adams is the head coach of Wichita State. She is currently in her third season at the helm after spending a significant amount of time at former Conference USA foe UTEP.
