MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis softball head coach Natalie Poole announces the addition of Lindsay Crowdus as a volunteer assistant for the 2020 season.
Â
A 2017 Memphis graduate with a degree in child development, Crowdus has spent time after graduation heading up a softball program in her hometown area of Houma, La. called the Naturals. She is also just a semester away from graduating with her master's in applied behavior analysis from Nicholls State University.
Â
"I am very happy to have Lindsay Crowdus on staff with us," said Poole. "This has been a long time coming. We discussed this possible opportunity after she completed her eligibility, and now we are seeing it play out. Lindsay knows our program and philosophy. She has thrived in this program, experiencing a tremendous amount of success during her softball career."
Â
Crowdus was the 2017 Co-American Athletic Conference Player of the Year as well as a finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award. A first team all-conference selection, Crowdus shattered the school record with a .451 batting average and finished with a .359 career batting average. She recorded a program-record 83 hits and finished with nine triples in 2017.
Â
She also stole 64 bases in her career including 33 as a senior. Crowdus finished her career third on the all-time list in on base percentage (.403) and runs scored (112). She started and played in 209 games for the Blue and Gray.
Â
As the volunteer assistant, Crowdus will assist the Tiger coaching staff in various areas. Â
Â
"Lindsay wants to see other players achieve great things and has high expectations for them," added Poole. "She is going to raise the level of play of those athletes she works with, both mentally and physically."
