Tigers to compete in third-straight meet in Birmingham.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis track and field squad is establishing its second "home" for the 2019-20 indoor season as Birmingham, Ala. For the second week in a row, the Tigers travel three hours south of the Bluff City to compete in a meet at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Sunday.

This time, Memphis takes part in the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational in Birmingham. The action begins at 12 p.m. (CT) with the field events. The running events follow at 12:15 p.m. (CT).

Sunday's meet is the third of four times the Tigers are participating in a meet at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The next time Memphis competes there it will be the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 27-29.

- This is the second-straight weekend that the Tigers compete on a Sunday.
- It is the third-consecutive one-day indoor meet for Memphis. The Tigers competed in the Birmingham-Southern Icebreaker Dec. 6 and the KMS Invitational last Sunday. After an off weekend Feb. 7-9, Memphis' final two meets prior to the American Athletic Conference Championships are two-day events at Vanderbilt's Music City Challenge Feb. 14-15 and Southeast Missouri's Redhawks Invitational Feb. 21-22.
- At last year's South Alabama Jaguar Invitational, Memphis won nine titles and had 26 top-three performances.
- DeeNia McMiller (women's weight throw) and Jordan Wesner (men's high jump) both are looking for their third titles in as many meets this season on Sunday.
- DeeNia McMiller has been named the AAC Female Field Athlete of the Week twice in 2019-20.
- Jordan Wesner's 7-1 (2.16m) jump in the season opener Dec. 6 is the 20th-best mark in the high jump nationally this season.
- DeeNia McMiller's 72-10 (22.20m) effort in the women's weight throw Dec. 6 is the fourth-best mark in the event in the nation.
- Ladasia Walton's 5-9.25 (1.76m) jump in last Sunday's KMS Invitational is tied for the 24th-best mark in the women's high jump nationally.
