MEMPHIS – After recording two double-doubles in one week, Memphis forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced Monday afternoon.
At Saint Louis on Friday, she scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. Just two days after a stellar performance on the road, she returned to the Elma Roane Fieldhouse and totaled 23 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Liberty. Her two double-doubles lead the conference, as no other player has managed more than one.
"The team calls her 'double-double Dulcy' and that's really what we think she is," said Memphis head coach Melissa McFerrin. "She's capable of that every night."
She is tied with senior forward Alana Davis as the Tigers' leading scorer at 16 points per game and leads the team with 12.7 rebounds per game. She is the only player in the AAC with a double-double average and one of just 46 players in the nation who have had multiple double-doubles this season.
Last season, Fankam Mendjiadeu started all 31 games for the Tigers, averaging 12.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game after transferring from Walters State Community College. Going into the 2020-21 season, she was selected to the American Athletic Conference preseason second team.
The Tigers are set to take on McNeese State at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The game will air on ESPN+. For more information on the Memphis women's basketball team, follow the Tigers on social media at @MemphisWBB.
