Memphis Senior Forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu Named Preseason All-Conference

IRVING, Texas – Memphis women's basketball senior forward Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu has been selected to the American Athletic Conference Preseason Second Team, the conference announced Wednesday.
The 6-foot-4 Cameroon native started all 31 games for the Tigers last season, averaging 12.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game last season after transferring from Walters State Community College.
"We're so happy that the conference sees just how dominant Dulcy can be," said 16th-year head coach Melissa McFerrin. "Last year, she came in and took her role and ran with it. We look for her to continue to evolve her game and help lead us to a successful season."
With back-to-back top 35 recruiting classes, the Tigers are picked to finish eighth by the league's coaches in the AAC preseason poll.
The Tigers return the majority of their production from last season after losing just one starter, Gazmyne Herndon, from a 14-17 campaign.Â
Junior guard Jamirah Shutes and sophomore guards Madison Griggs and Aerial Wilson return in the backcourt after starting a combined 60 games last season. Shutes led the Tigers in scoring for a second straight season with 15.2 points per game, and Griggs was an AAC All-Freshman Team selection after setting a Memphis record with 96 made 3-pointers.
In addition to Mendjiadeu Fankam, Memphis returns experienced senior Keke Hunter and talented sophomore Lanetta Williams in the front court.Â
