MEMPHIS – David Glidden, who has spent the past two seasons at Memphis as an offensive quality control analyst has been elevated to an assistant coaching position at the University of Memphis Ryan Silverfield announced Tuesday Glidden will serve as the Tigers' tight ends coach.

"David Glidden was the right choice to be coaching our tight ends. He is a tremendous teacher and a rising star in this profession," Silverfield said. "Over the last two years here, you could watch his growth as a coach and see the respect and trust he gained from everyone in the Memphis football program. He is smart, dedicated, passionate and we are so glad he will continue to be a Tiger."

A 2015 graduate of Oklahoma State, Glidden suited up for four seasons for the Cowboys, finishing his career with 115 catches for 1,655 yards and six touchdowns. He spent some time with the Atlanta Falcons before moving in to coaching.

He spent two seasons as an assistant coach at his high school alma mater, Mustang High School (Okla.) before coming to Memphis in 2018. He worked as a member of the offensive staff with the Tigers the past two seasons, helping in the development of the Memphis wide receivers. Wideouts Damonte Coxie and Antonio Gibson each earned all-conference honors in 2019 and Coxie has back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons, with 148 catches for 2,450 yards in the past two seasons with 16 touchdowns.

With Glidden on the staff, Memphis has won back-to-back West Division Championships, claiming the first outright American Athletic Conference championship in 2019. That championship clinched the program's first-ever New Year's Six Bowl berth with a 2019 Cotton Bowl appearance.
