A total of 16 conference games for the fourth-straight season
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference and the University of Memphis women's basketball team announced its 16-game American Athletic Conference schedule Thursday afternoon. In its seventh year in the league, the Tigers open the conference season at Houston on Jan. 5. The match-up against the Cougars will be televised on ESPNU.
Â
This is the fourth season The American has had a 16-game conference schedule after the league's head coaches voted for the change at the 2015 American Athletic Conference spring meetings. The move allows for more flexibility in the non-conference portion of the schedule.
Â
The Tigers have home and away meetings against UCF, UConn, ECU, Tulane and SMU, home-only games against Cincinnati (Jan. 8), Tulsa (Feb. 1) and USF (Feb. 22) and road-only match-ups at Houston (Jan. 5), at Wichita State (Feb. 12) and at Temple (Feb. 19).
Â
Three Memphis games have been selected to air on the American Digital Network, including one at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse against Cincinnati on Jan. 8. The home game against USF on Feb. 22 will be broadcast on ESPN3 while the road games against Tulane (Jan. 11) and UConn (Feb. 7) will also be televised on ESPN3.
Â
After concluding the regular season at SMU, the Tigers will head back to Uncasville, Conn. for the AAC Championship held at the Mohegan Sun. This year's championship is scheduled for March 6-9, 2020.
Â
Memphis opens the non-conference schedule on Nov. 5 against Alcorn State after an exhibition against in-town foe Christian Brothers on Oct. 30. An international trip to the Bahamas highlights the non-conference schedule over Thanksgiving break.
Â
Memphis Madness is scheduled for Oct. 3 at FedExForum with $5 tickets available at www.GoTigersGoTix.com. To reserve your season tickets for the upcoming season, call the Memphis ticket office at 901-678-2331.
