Dec 27, 2025 | Women's Basketball
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis women's basketball is back in action this Sunday, December 28, hosting Rust College at 2 p.m.
The final non-conference bout of the season, the matchup also ends a 33-day spell away from Elma Roane Fieldhouse for the Tigers (5-7). In their third consecutive true road game, they erased a 17-point deficit to defeat Southeastern Louisiana, 70-66, on December 20.
Guard Daejah Richmond led the way with a career-high 26 points along with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. The Cordova native leads the team and ranks third in the conference with 2.2 steals per game. Memphis became the second American Conference team in the past four seasons to have four players collect eight or more rebounds in the same game (Kennedi Alexander, Jah'Naesia Spiers, Cori Allen and Tamya Smith).
It's Memphis' first-ever game against Rust, a NAIA school that is currently 3-1 in HBCU Athletic Conference play and 7-8 overall. Jaleesa Sams is in her second season as head coach of the Bearcats, coming to Mississippi from North Carolina A&T.
Senior guard Patsy Sims leads the way with 15.5 points per game on the back of five 20-point performances. Michaela Payton and Unique Miller combine for 15.2 rebounds per game.
