Tigers' attendance increase ranks No. 1

UofM attracted 14,065 per game to FedExForum; up 7,840 from 2017-18
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The first season of the Penny Hardaway Era at the University of Memphis was a turnstile-smashing success.

The Tigers, under coach Hardaway, led the nation in increased average attendance. They averaged 7,840 more per game than during the 2017-18 season, when they attracted 6,225 per game. Marquette was next, drawing 3,288 more per game.

Memphis also ranked 17th overall among Division 1 programs in average attendance. The UofM drew 14,065 per game for 21 dates at FedExForum. Syracuse was the national leader at 21,992 per game.

Memphis finished 12 spots ahead of fellow American Athletic Conference member Cincinnati, which drew 11,256 per game and ranked 29th nationally.
The Tigers finished 22-14 overall in Hardaway's first season and reached the second round of the National Invitation Tournament. The UofM was 18-3 at FedExForum.

The Tigers, who recruited the nation's No. 1 class in 2019, begin workouts next week in preparation for their exhibition tour to the Bahamas, where they will play four games in mid-August.
