Tennessee Preparatory star is state's No. 4 recruit
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis added a key local player to its 2019 signing class Wednesday.
Damion Baugh signed a National Letter of Intent to join James Wiseman, D.J. Jeffries and Malcolm Dandridge as members of coach Penny Hardaway's second recruiting class. Wiseman, the nation's top-ranked recruit according to multiple recruiting sites, signed during the early period last November along with Jeffries and Dandridge.
Baugh, a native of Nashville, played his junior and senior seasons in Memphis at Tennessee Prep. A 6-foot-4, 190-pound point guard, Baugh played his first two high school seasons at Cane Ridge High in Nashville. He averaged 23.5 points and 10 rebounds his senior season and recorded 10 triple-doubles.
Listed as a four-star prospect in 247Sports' Independent Ranking, Baugh can play both guard positions. He is the No. 4 prospect in Tennessee and the No. 118 player overall in the Class of 2019 according to 247Sports. Rivals.com ranks Baugh as the No. 83 prospect in the nation.
"Damion will bring toughness, basketball IQ and winning attitude to our program," Hardaway said.
Baugh played grassroots basketball in Memphis for Team Thad, where current Tiger guard Tyler Harris was a teammate.
