Women's Golf Rockets to Fourth at AAC Championships

Fletcher and Dawson remain in top 10 in individual standings.
PALM COAST, FLORIDA – Memphis jumped to fourth in the team standings with a second round 292, a 12-stroke improvement on their first-round score, at the American Athletic Conference Championships Monday. The Lady Tigers (596) are one stroke behind third place East Carolina (595) and five strokes behind second place UCF (591). Houston continues to lead the team competition with a day two 284 and a 571 for 36 holes.
Memphis still has two golfers in the top 10 in the individual race. Michaela Fletcher carded a birdie on six and then was bogey-free the rest of the day for a day two 71 (-1) to move to fifth place overall.
Freshman Ana Dawson was sitting at +3 heading into 18, but eagled the 503-yard, par-five hole to finish with a 73 (+1). She is tied for eighth at the end of day two of the championships.
Senior teammates Sydney Colwill and Madison Thomas are tied for 31stthrough 36 holes. Thomas birdied 12 and 18 on the back side and jumped 16 spots in the standings with her second round 72 (E). Colwill put a 76 (+4) in the books for her second round and is tied at 153 with Thomas and UCF's Chinatsu Kobayashi.
Freshman Victoria Gallegos scored a pair of birdies in her second round to finish with a 76 (+4). She moved up two spots to 46that 159 through 36 holes.
Houston's Leonie Harm and UCF's Elizabeth Moon are knotted atop the individual standings at 141. Moon shot a 71 on Tuesday to move into the tie in the individual standings. Houston's Maddy Rayner recorded the low round of the day with a 68.
Memphis will tee off with East Carolina in twosomes off tee one starting at 8:40 am (ET), Tuesday, in the final round.
