Fletcher and Dawson in Top 10 at AAC Championships

PALM COAST, FLORIDA – Michaela Fletcher and Ana Dawson each birdied 18 to finish day one of the American Athletic Championships tied for eighth overall with opening round 73's, Sunday. As a team, Memphis stands ninth at the end of day one with a 304, six strokes from the top five in the overall standings.
Fletcher finished the opening nine at +2 and had posted par on the next eight holes on the backside before a birdie at 18 put her at +1 on the day. Dawson was +1 on her opening nine holes and picked up a stroke at 16 to move to +2. She birdied 18 to finish at +1 in her first conference tournament.
Sydney Colwill ended day one at 77 (+5), which has her tied for 35thoverall. Madison Thomas is 47thafter back to back birdies on 17 and 18 dropped her to 81 (+9) on the day. Victoria Gallegos carded an 83 in her first round of the conference tournament.
Houston leads the team competition with a opening round 287 (-1), holding a seven stroke lead on UCF and an eight stroke lead on USF.
Number 10 ranked Leonie Harm of Houston leads the field with an opening round 69, one of five sub-par rounds scored Sunday.
Memphis will be paired with Tulane on Monday in the second round with tee times beginning at 8 am (ET). Live scoring will be available on www.GolfStat.com.
