Tigers No. 10 career scoring leader one of 64 seniors chosen to play in the prestigious event
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis senior guard Jeremiah Martin, who finished his career as the 10th-leading scorer in program history, will participate in the 2019 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament April 17-20 in Portsmouth, Va.
The Portsmouth rosters consist of 64 of the top senior basketball players in the nation. The four-day, 12-game tournament format is played before NBA representatives from all 30 teams and is considered a prime opportunity for players to maximize their visibility and skills.
Martin finished his career with 1,625 points, including 708 as a senior, the second-highest total by a UofM senior in school history. He scored 44 percent of his career total his final season as a Tiger.
Martin averaged 19.7 points per game to become the first UofM player to lead a conference in scoring since Will Barton in 2012. Martin tied Temple's Shizz Alston for the American Athletic Conference lead.
During the season, Martin had two games of 40 or more points to become the first Memphis player to accomplish the feat. In February, he averaged 30.8 points in eight games. Following the season, Martin was a unanimous AAC first-team selection.
A native Memphian who attended Mitchell High, Martin finished second in the conference in steals (2.2 per game) and fourth in assists (4.4).
He was recognized as the HoopsHD Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
