Scholarship to provide assistance for UofM football student equipment managers.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. –The University of Memphis and the Tiger Scholarship Fund have created a memorial fund in memory of former football manager Ki Brown. The scholarship has been designated for the benefit of UofM football student equipment managers.
Brown spent two seasons as a member of the Memphis football equipment staff before his passing in February of 2018 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
"Ki was an incredible young man, who we all miss very much," stated Tom Bowen, Director of Athletics. "This scholarship is one way of keeping Ki a part of Tiger football forever."
A graduate of Olive Branch High School in 2015, Brown played prep football for four seasons. He then attended Northeast Mississippi Community College, assisting with statistics for football and baseball for two seasons before transferring to Memphis.
"Ki was a remarkable person," said Marc Hohorst, Memphis' head equipment manager. "He left an everlasting impression of selflessness, hard work, and dedication to those around him."
The scholarship is based on financial need, academic achievement and community and extracurricular involvement. It is renewable for up to two full academic years.
Tiger supporters who wish to assist in the funding of the Ki Brown Memorial Fund are asked to contact the Tiger Scholarship Office at 901-678-2334.
