Women's tennis to host trio of matches this weekend

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Jumpstarting a four-match home stand, this weekend features three matches for Memphis women's tennis at the Racquet Club of Memphis.
The Tigers (8-8, 2-1) will begin the slate with a league matchup against Cincinnati on Friday at 12 p.m. Memphis will then host South Alabama on Saturday at 2 p.m. before closing the weekend against Marshall on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Free pizza and soft drinks will be served to fans at Saturday's match against South Alabama. Admission is free to all home UofM tennis matches.
In their last time out, Memphis dropped a pair of contests at Brown and Harvard. Memphis took Brown the distance on Friday, eventually falling in a 4-3 decision. On Sunday, the Tigers turned in a strong doubles effort before Harvard completed a comeback in singles action.
Cincinnati visits the Bluff City with an 8-6 record and 0-1 mark in league play. The Bearcats snapped a two-match skid with a 7-0 sweep of Dayton on Wednesday. Previously, Cincinnati dropped 4-2 match at Wichita State late last month in its lone league contest.
South Alabama holds a 15-2 overall record with their lone losses coming against LSU and a league setback against Appalachian State. The Jaguars have claimed five of their last six contests.
Marshall recently had a three-match win streak snapped after a setback at Tulane. The Herd are 5-11 on the season and will play Cincinnati on Saturday before facing the Tigers to close the weekend.
