UofM senior guard selected to NABC All-District 25 first team
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Add another honor to a growing list for University of Memphis senior guard Jeremiah Martin.
Martin has been named to the 2018-19 National Association of Basketball Coaches Division 1 All-District Team. Martin was named to the District 25 team, which is comprised of teams that play in the American Athletic Conference. The team is selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in Division 1.
Martin was honored earlier this month as a unanimous selection to The American first-team all-conference squad. Joining Martin on the District 25 first team were Houston's Corey Davis, Jr.; Cincinnati's Jarron Cumberland; Temple's Shizz Alston, Jr., and BJ Taylor of UCF.
Martin enters the second round of the National Invitation Tournament at Omaha, Neb., Friday night against Creighton as the league's scoring leader at 19.7 points per game. He averaged 23.2 points per game in conference games, a total that also led the league. His 688 points this season rank second in program history for most by a Tiger senior.
A native Memphian, Martin led the Tigers to a fifth-place league finish. Among his accomplishments was a record-setting February. He averaged 30.6 points in eight games. No other player in school history has averaged more than 30 points in a month.
During his record-setting month, Martin set a league mark by scoring 43 points in a victory over Tulane. He also scored 41 points – all in the second half – in a game at USF. He became the first Tiger to score 40 or more points twice in a career.
Martin ranks as the No. 11 career-leading scorer in UofM history.
