Women’s Golf Even Through Two Rounds at Augusta

Teams posts second lowest round in program history in second round to get back to even par.
AUGUSTA, Georgia – The University of Memphis women's golf team is even through two rounds at the Valspar Augusta Invitational and is tied for fourth in the standings at 576.
After carding a first round 297, the team just missed the school record for low round with a 279 in round two to improve to fourth in the standings at 576 (297, 279). Memphis set the record for low round earlier this season at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational with a third round 278.
Senior Michaela Fletcher is tied for sixth overall at 142 (73-69) while Sydney Colwill is tied for 15that 144 (75-69). Madison Thomas also made a big move in the second round, shaving six strokes off her first round 77 with a second round 71. Her 148 has her tied for 32ndheading into the final round of play.
Freshmen Ana Dawson and Victoria Gallegos were playing their first competitive collegiate rounds at Augusta for this event. Dawson is under par through the first day of play after rounds of 76 and 70, while Gallegos carded a 150 (73-77) and is tied for 38thoverall.
Memphis tees off at 9 a.m. Sunday in the final round. The Lady Tigers will go off holes four through seven and will be paired with players from Coastal Carolina and from host Augusta.
Texas Tech leads the field at 562 (281-281), while Purdue is six strokes back at 568 (289-279). Charlotte is third at 572 (292-280). Memphis and host Augusta are tied at 576.
Three players are tied atop the leaderboard through two rounds. Purdue's Melati Putri, Texas Tech's Amy Taylor and Charlotte's Ellinor Sudow are tied at 138. Texas Tech's Sofia Garcia and Taylor each carded low round of the day (66). Garcia is just three strokes off the leading trio at 141, along with Purdue's RuQing Guan.
