Tigers drop road trip finale at Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. – Memphis men's tennis dropped a close 4-3 decision at No. 39 Wichita State Tuesday afternoon, concluding a three-match road trip.
Despite taking doubles, a third win in singles play eluded Memphis (9-7).
The Tigers notched their 12th doubles point of the season with wins at 2 and 1. Duo Jan Pallares and Patrick Sydow claimed a 6-2 win on court 2 before tandem Oscar Cutting and David Stevenson clinched with a 6-4 victory at the top spot.
In singles, Memphis stretched the lead to 2-0 with a win from David Stevenson at the bottom of the lineup.
After the Shockers (7-7) found their first victory of the day, Chris Patzanovsky won in straight sets at the No. 1 position. The home side began its rally, forcing a third set on courts 2 and 3 before clinching the victory in a tiebreak.
The Tigers return to action in two weekends at the San Diego Spring Classic. The annual trip co-hosted by the University of San Diego and San Diego State University is set for Mar. 22-24.
