MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After splitting its second weekend of competition, the Memphis women's tennis team will travel to New Orleans for a pair of league matches against ECU and Tulane.
The Tigers will face the Pirates of ECU in a neutral-site match on Saturday at noon before playing host Tulane on Sunday at noon.
In its last outing, Memphis (1-3) dropped the first match of a double header at Arizona last Friday before claiming a 4-2 victory against Northern Arizona to cap the day.
Sophomore Lina Hohnhold won both of her singles matches against the Wildcats and Lumberjacks for a 2-2 start to the dual-match season. Classmate Laura Bente took a straight-set decision against NAU to clinch the Tigers' first win of the young season. Bente is now 2-0 at the No. 2 spot.
The Pirates (1-2) claimed their first win of the season behind a 4-1 effort against Tulane on Friday afternoon. Despite dropping doubles, ECU claimed singles wins on courts 1, 2, 3, and 5 to secure the win.
Tulane (4-3) began its season 4-0 before dropping three straight. Prior to the setback against ECU on Friday, the Green Wave fell to No. 18 LSU and Ole Miss last weekend. Laura Fabrizi anchors the top spot for Tulane with a 2-3 record.
