Official NFL Scouting Invite List
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Though revealed earlier by the players, the NFL confirmed Thursday that the University of Memphis football has three players from the 2018 roster on the official Scouting Combine invitation list. Running backs Darrell Henderson and Tony Pollard and offensive lineman Trevon Tate are all on the official invite list. Memphis also had three players invited to last year's scouting combine: Riley Ferguson, Anthony Miller (Chicago Bears) and Genard Avery (Cleveland Browns).
In 38 career games, Henderson rushed for 3,545 yards and 36 touchdowns. His 3,545 career rushing yards ranks second in the Memphis record book only to DeAngelo Williams (6,026). His 36 career rushing touchdowns ties Dave Casinelli (1960-63) for second all-time. An NCAA Consensus All-American, Henderson rushed for 1,909 yards in 2018, just missing Williams' all-time single season mark of 1,964 yards. Henderson's 22 rushing touchdowns did tie Williams' single season mark from 2004. The 2018 NCAA leader in all-purpose yards (2,328), Henderson also added 63 catches for 758 yards and eight touchdowns in his career. He also added a passing touchdown in the AAC Championship game and a kickoff return touchdown as a freshman in 2016. A two-time all-conference honoree, Henderson was a finalist for the 2018 Doak Walker Award.
Memphis native Tony Pollard appeared in 40 career games, finishing with 941 rushing yards on 139 attempts with nine touchdowns. Tied for the NCAA career record in kickoff return touchdowns (seven), Pollard played in multiple phases for the Tigers, also adding 104 catches for 1,292 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. In addition to his kickoff return duties, Pollard also played on the punt and kickoff cover teams, helping Memphis become one of the most impactful special teams' units in the country. Pollard, a two-time American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Year (2016, 2017) finished his three-year Memphis career with 4,860 career all-purpose yards, ranking second in program history behind Williams (7,573).
Tate was a two-time, all-conference offensive lineman for Memphis. The Houston native played in 53 games over four seasons for Memphis, recording starts at both the right and left tackle positions. With Tate holding down one edge of the line, the Memphis offensive line was named a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award, the lone non-P5 unit to make the list of 10 semifinalists. In 2017, Tate blocked for an offense that set a school single season record in total yards (6,917), scoring (592), touchdowns scored (79), rushing touchdowns (33) and passing touchdowns (39). One year later, in Tate's senior season, the Tigers broke some of those same records, including total offense (7,324), rushing touchdowns (48), touchdowns scored (80) and scoring (601).
The 2019 NFL Combine will be held February 26 to March 4 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The running backs and offensive linemen have a similar schedule, so all three Tigers will go through the process on roughly the same timeline, arriving on February 26, getting measurements and starting interviews on February 27, going through more testing, interviews and bench presses on Thursday, February 28 and doing their on-field workout on Friday, March 1. Tate will be in Group 2 with the offensive linemen, while Henderson and Pollard will be in Group 3. The NFL Network will cover events from the Scouting Combine.
