Rifle Defeats Nebraska In Conference Match

Clark sweeps both disciplines, wins aggregate title.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis' Levi Clark won both disciplines and took the aggregate title in the Tigers' narrow 4661-4660 Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) victory over Nebraska Sunday.

The No. 8 nationally ranked Tigers won the head-to-head match over the No. 11 Cornhuskers in air rifle, posting a slim 2348-2347 win. The squads tied in smallbore, putting up identical 2313 scores.

Clark, a junior, swept both disciplines with a 586 in smallbore and a 593 in air rifle. His career-high 1179 aggregate took top individual honors. Clark's previous career-best aggregate was 1177 against defending NCAA champion Kentucky Oct. 28.

- The win over Nebraska was Memphis' second this season. The Tigers also posted a victory over the Cornhuskers at the Gamecock Invitational in November. Memphis won the invitational with a 4689 aggregate, and Nebraska was second at 4669.
- Levi Clark shot a career-high 586 in smallbore Sunday. His previous career-best in the discipline was 584 on three occasions, the last time in the Gamecock Invitational in November.
- Levi Clark's 593 air rifle score was one shy of tying his career-high (594) that he set against Kentucky in late October.
- Leighton Dempster shot a 1175 aggregate (585-590), marking her sixth-straight performance of a 1174 or higher aggregate. This season, Dempster has had aggregates of 1174 or higher seven times.
- Amberlie Ezell posted a season-high 587 in air rifle. Her 1155 aggregate tied her season-best.
- Matt Dorey recorded his second-highest air rifle score of the season (585).
- David Crenshaw shot his second-best smallbore score of the season (575).
