Memphis arrives on Dec. 22 for the 84th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic
DALLAS – The University of Memphis football team arrived in Dallas Sunday afternoon in preparation for the 84th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic set to take place on Dec. 28, 2019 at AT&T Stadium.
Â
Upon arrival, Memphis was greeted by members of the Cotton Bowl Athletic Association (CBAA) as well as Memphis and Cotton Bowl branded buses to transport the team to and from the airport, hotel and AT&T Stadium.
Â
After a short drive to the Gaylord Texan, Memphis was welcomed by a host of Cotton Bowl Classic dignitaries and the Kilgore College Rangerettes, America's first precision dance drill team, with Memphis' fight song playing in the background.
Â
"From the moment we took off, you could sense the excitement in our young men," said head coach Ryan Silverfield. "The hospitality here is first class. The Cotton Bowl puts on a first-class operation so we're really excited about that. We've got a great opponent in Penn State. We're excited about the challenges ahead and a fun week in Dallas."
Â
Memphis starts its day at 10:10 a.m. Monday morning with a press conference featuring players Brady White and Bryce Huff along with head coach Ryan Silverfield. The Tigers follow the press conference with their first workout of the week at AT&T Stadium.
Â
"We've got a fantastic team that knows the right way to do things and the structure we have in place," said Silverfield. "Obviously, we have to continue to work through this week and get ready for our game on Saturday."
