Club continues preparations for Concacaf Championship in February
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A trio of Memphis women's soccer student-athletes were selected to train in Canada Soccer's Women's National U-20 Excel camp in Burnaby, British Columbia.
Sophomore Tanya Boychuk, freshman Mya Jones and signee Lara Kazandjian will compete in the five-day camp as the group continues preparations for the Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship beginning in February.
"What an honor," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "It's an honor to have one on your team to represent our team but to have two with one incoming speaks volumes to them and then to our program."
Boychuk and Kazandjian are making their third camp appearance with the team since this summer. The duo first competed in an international series in England followed by a team camp in August. Jones, who also trained in the August camp in Burnaby, is making her second camp trip.
The 2020 Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship will begin Feb. 22, 2020 and conclude on Mar. 2 in Dominican Republic. The top three teams from the competition will qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in 2020.
