Brewton earns Weekly Honor Roll from American Athletic Conference

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Memphis senior guard Kareem Brewton Jr., was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll Monday for his contributions in Saturday's league victory over SMU.

Brewton made a career-best six 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 20 points in the Tigers' 83-61 win at FedExForum before 16,673. Brewton, from Claxton, Ga, added a team-high three steals.

For Brewton, making his fourth start of the season, it was the first time he has received the Weekly Honor Roll recognition in his two-year career at the UofM.

In the Tigers' past four games, Brewton is averaging 16 points. He scored a career-high 25 points in a Jan. 6 conference game at nationally ranked Houston. During that same four-game time frame, he is shooting 62 percent (24-of-39), including 55 percent (11-of-20) from beyond the arc.

Memphis (12-6, 4-1 The American) resumes conference play Thursday at Temple (14-4, 4-1). Tipoff is 6 p.m. (CT) and the game will be shown on CBS Sports Network.
