Tigers Stay Home to Face UConn

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After a thrilling 1-0 victory to start conference play, Memphis will host UConn on Friday night. Match time is scheduled for 7 p.m., at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

The Memphis Tigers
The Tigers host UConn after claiming a victory in their conference opener against Cincinnati. The hard-fought game was scoreless until the final minute of the first half, when Edgar Alaniz glanced a header into the net off of a Peyton McKnatt cross. The score was Alaniz' first collegiate goal.
Still in the early stages of AAC play, Memphis is led by McKnatt, Chris Mikus and David Zalzman, who are all tied for third in the conference with three goals apiece. Between the posts, Tyler Hofmann leads the AAC in goals allowed per game, giving up 0.68 goals per outing. Hofmann has also shutout three opponents, including Sunday's clean sheet over the Bearcats.
Now in his fifth season at the helm of the program, head coach Richard Mulrooney is currently 3-1 against UConn, having won three straight matches dating back to 2015.
Scouting the Huskies
UConn will visit Memphis with a 4-2-1 record, having most recently earned a 2-2 draw with South Florida in its conference opener.
The Huskies are led by Abdou Mbacke Thiam, who is second in the conference in goals scored with six. UConn also runs its offense through Dayonn Harris, who leads the AAC with four assists.
Head coach of the Huskies is Ray Reid. Reid is in his 22nd season of coaching at UConn, and has amassed almost 300 victories in his time there.
