Cheyenne Creighton and Ariel Hearn to compete in Germany next season
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Former University of Memphis forward Cheyenne Creighton signed her first professional contract with Germany's Eisvogel USC Freiburg team earlier this fall. She joins another former Tiger, Ariel Hearn, in the 12-team Damen Basketball Bundesliga league (DBBL).
Creighton, a two-time third-team All-AAC selection, joins the DBBL after graduating this past May. She finished her Memphis career with 1,182 points and 680 rebounds, becoming the 24th player in program history to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau. Creighton started in all 60 games in her final two seasons and suited up in a total of 122 for the Blue and Gray.
Hearn competed for Eintracht Braunschweig in the DBBL last season and has now signed with TV Saarlouis Royals of the DBBL. During the 2017-18 season, Hearn led her squad with 22.3 points per game and finished third on the team pulling down 7.8 rebounds per contest. She was a 51.4 percent shooter from the floor and just under 40 percent from beyond the arc. She was also the team's leader in assists and steals.
The season begins later this week for Creighton and Hearn. Due to competing in the same league, the two will face-off against each other later in the season.
Earlier this fall, the Tigers announced that Brea Elmore signed a contract to play for the Women's British Basketball League in Great Britain.
Memphis will open its 2018-19 season with an exhibition game against cross-town foe LeMoyne-Owen on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
