Memphis Returns Home to Face Belmont

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Tigers men's soccer returns home after playing five consecutive matches on the road. The team will host Belmont on Saturday at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.

Scouting the Tigers
 
Memphis returns home this weekend after playing two matches in Omaha, Neb., last weekend. The Tigers split their two outings, falling to Creighton before earning the shutout win over Utah Valley. Head coach Richard Mulrooney's squad now finds itself with a 3-2-1 record.
 
The Tigers are led in scoring by Peyton McKnatt, who has three goals on the year. Right behind him with a pair of goals is redshirt sophomore Chris Mikus, who scored the game winner against Utah Valley. Mikus was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll for his play over the weekend. Goalkeeper Tyler Hofmann recorded his second shutout of the season against Utah Valley, stopping all three shots on goal.
 
Memphis and Belmont have played each other 16 times over the years. The Tigers have won 14 of those matchups, lost once, and came to a 0-0 draw last season.
 
A look at Belmont
 
The Bruins visit Memphis after falling to Georgia State on Tuesday. With four total goals on the season, four different players have scored a goal for Belmont. Ares Marlonsson leads the team with three points, having also notched an assist this year.
 
Bryan Green is now in his fifth season at the helm of the Bruins. Three of his four completed seasons at Belmont have seen a player recognized on the Horizon League All-Freshman Team, including Matteo Bennati, who also won Horizon League Freshman of the Year in 2017.
