Memphis Announces 2018 Football Promotion Schedule
Jun 29, 2018 | Football
Season starts with the 901 Game
MEMPHIS – The University of Memphis announced the promotional efforts that will be included during the 2018 home football season highlighted by the White Out – Sell Out Game vs. UCF on Oct. 13 in a rematch of the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championship Game that went to double overtime.
All season long, the Tigers will partner with the Tiger Bookstore to create a different T-shirt on game weeks. These special shirts will match up with the theme of the game and will be available for just $5. This is a continuation of a program started two seasons ago that has become a fan favorite.
The home opener will be played on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. against Mercer. It is only fitting that this game played on 9-01-18 will be promoted as a salute to the 901 area code. This game is the annual Kroger game, where area Kroger stores will sell special $10 discounted tickets at their customer service desks. Tickets for this game will go on sale in August.
On Sept. 14, the Tigers play host to a national television audience for a Friday night game against Georgia State at 7 p.m. The Tigers will play tribute to the history and tradition of the University with a Memphis State game. Every school has a legacy that has set the stage for the present and the future, and at the University of Memphis, the days as Memphis State remind us of how far we have come as a University. This game is dedicated to those memories, and fans are encouraged to wear their favorite vintage Memphis State gear.
Military and Veteran Appreciation Day will be on Saturday, Sept. 22, versus South Alabama. Memphis will pay tribute to veterans, active duty military and their families as this special event will feature a patriotic halftime theme, salutes to our local and regional military leadership and recognition of all who have served our country in the armed services.
Homecoming is Saturday, Oct. 6 vs. UConn and will include the pageantry of celebrating and welcoming all alumni of the University. In partnership with the University and Alumni Association, the entire weekend will be filled with events, recognitions and fun for families, students, and alumni.
Saturday, Oct. 13 is a game that should be circled on the calendar of every Tiger fan, as Memphis hosts UCF. This new rivalry came into full view last year, as Memphis and UCF battled into double overtime in the AAC Championship Game in Orlando. This year's game in Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium is being dubbed the White Out – Sell Out game. Every Tiger fan is needed to help sell out the stadium and create an amazing home-field advantage. All fans are encouraged to wear their favorite white Memphis shirt. If a fan can only go to one game this season, this is the one.
The Tigers return to Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 10 vs. Tulsa on Cancer Awareness Day. Hospitals in Memphis are world-renowned for efforts in treating childhood cancers, and the cancer research happening in and around the region is making a difference in countless lives. In recognition and support of all who have been impacted by cancer, a special Tiger stripe ribbon has been created for this game.
The final home game of the regular season will be on Black Friday against rival Houston on Nov. 23. This rivalry has featured some of the most exciting games in each of the past few seasons, with epic comebacks, offensive fireworks and passion that is hard to match. Another national television audience will be on hand and fans are encouraged to wear black for this Black Friday game.
Season tickets for all seven home games are on sale now and can be purchased online at GoTigersGoTix.com using the select-a-seat function, or by calling 901.678.2331. Season tickets start at just $150, or $100 in the Family Fun Zone (minimum of four season tickets), while advance sale single-game tickets start at $30.
