Junior forward averaged 18 points in three games in Orlando

ORLANDO – University of Memphis forward Kyvon Davenport was named to the American Athletic Conference all-tournament team Sunday, a day after the Tigers were eliminated in the semifinals of the event at the Amway Center.

Davenport, a 6-8 junior from Gainesville, Ga., averaged 18 points and 7.6 rebounds in the U of M's three tournament games: wins over USF and Tulsa and a semifinal loss to top-seed Cincinnati, the nation's eighth-ranked team. Cincinnati won the tournament title Sunday, 56-55, over No. 3 seed Houston and UC's Gary Clark was named Most Outstanding Player.

Davenport opened the tournament by scoring a career-high 27 points in the Tigers' 79-77 victory over USF. He added 15 points in a quarterfinal win over Tulsa and posted his eighth double-double of the season (12 points, 11 rebounds) in Saturday's 70-60 loss to the Bearcats.

Davenport made 18 of 28 field goals during the tournament and added four blocks and three steals. He finished the season, his first with the Tigers, with a 13.3 average, second on the team to junior point guard Jeremiah Martin. Martin led the league with a 18.9 average.
