Tigers Fall To UCF On The Road

Taylor Barnes led Memphis in scoring for the third time this season
ORLANDO, Fla. – The eight-game winning streak against UCF was snapped Saturday afternoon as the University of Memphis women's basketball team fell to the Knights by a score of 61-41 at CFE Arena. Memphis drops to 7-15 on the year and 2-7 in American Athletic Conference play.
How It Happened
The teams exchanged the first few baskets before UCF rattled off a run to take an early 10-5 lead. The first quarter remained low scoring as turnovers plagued the Memphis offense.
The Tigers took better care of the basketball in the second quarter, but struggled to carve into the UCF lead. In the first half of action, Taylor Barnes led Memphis with eight points including two made three-pointers.
After knocking down a jumper at the buzzer to end the second quarter, the Knights rattled off an 8-0 run to start the third quarter to take a 38-20 lead. Although UCF built a sizable lead in throughout the third quarter, the Tigers finished the game on a 10-0 run ignited by Barnes' third three-pointer of the contest.
Turning Point
UCF knocked down a jumper at the first half buzzer and proceeded to rattle off a 20-4 run to through the third quarter to take a commanding lead over the Tigers.

- Taylor Barnes hit two three-pointers in the first half, marking the fourth game this season with at least two made three-pointers. She finished with three made treys, matching her career-high set against Tennessee State in the home opener.
- Barnes also led Memphis with eight first half points. She finished with 16 for her 10th double-figure scoring game of the year to lead the Tigers.
- Jasmine James and Alana Davis led Memphis with six rebounds each.
- Davis finished with 10 points for her second-straight double-figure contest and fourth of the season.
