Dolan earns United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America honor

Dolan becomes third Tiger named to academic All-America team this season
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – After being named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region First Team on Monday, junior Serena Dolan was voted to the organization's Scholar All-America Second Team on Tuesday.

Dolan becomes the fifth different Tiger and first since 2016 to be named to a Scholar All-America team by United Soccer Coaches. Earlier this month, teammates Stasia Mallin and Catherine Levasseur were named to Google Cloud Academic All-America teams. Dolan's accolade marks the first time in program history three separate Tigers have been named to academic All-America teams in the same season.

"I couldn't be happier for our players who were named to these academic All-America teams. It's about being a student-athlete, and sometimes we forget how hard they work off the field," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "To have not only one, but three named scholar athletes speak volumes to these kids and what we are doing here as a program. I'm very proud of them."

Dolan has earned a 3.73 GPA as a health studies major. She was named to the Tiger 3.0 Club in her previous four semesters and is a two-time Dean's List honoree. Along with being a Tiger Academic 30 member, Dolan was also listed to the All-AAC Academic team in 2017 and 2018.

On the pitch, Dolan earned first-team all-conference accolades after netting two goals and dishing out three assists, while serving as a staple in the Memphis midfield. She also helped the Tiger defense post 13 shutouts, including consecutive clean sheets that led to Memphis' first American Athletic Conference tournament championship.

The Kentville, Nova Scotia native started every match for the Tigers in 2018, logging 1,587 minutes and served as a threat on corner kicks. The junior was also listed United Soccer Coaches First Team All-South Region last month.

In addition to her personal academic accolades, Dolan has been a vital part of helping the women's soccer team earn the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award and the AAC Academic Excellence Awards for five straight years.
