Rifle Vaults Up National Rankings

Tigers No. 4 in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association poll.
MURRAY, Ky. – The University of Memphis rifle squad is on the #CLIMB.

The Tigers have sprinted up the national rankings in the last month and are No. 4 in this week's Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll.
A month ago, Memphis was ranked No. 16 in the CRCA poll heading into two weekend matches against NC State and No. 1 Kentucky. The Tigers defeated the No. 8 Wolfpack Oct. 27 and the following day (Oct. 28) shot a 4674 aggregate, the program's best score since its school-record 4683 against Navy in 2013-14.

After those solid performances, Memphis jumped nine spots in the poll to No. 7.

Then, this past weekend, the Tigers set school records for aggregate (4689) and smallbore (2332) to win the Gamecock Invitational at Jacksonville State. The school-record aggregate (4689) supplanted the 2013-14 mark versus Navy (4683), and the 2332 smallbore score bettered the previous school record of 2329, which was shot in that same 2013-14 match against Navy.
