Clark, Dempster set career-best aggregates vs. Kentucky, NC State.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis senior Leighton Dempster and junior Levi Clark shot career-high aggregates to lead the Tigers to a split versus NC State and Kentucky in weekend action. Both Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) matches took played at the R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range.

Memphis, ranked No. 16 in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll, defeated No. 8 NC State 4646-4630 Saturday and dropped a 4692-4674 decision to defending NCAA champion and No. 1 Kentucky Sunday.

Dempster shot a career-best 1179 aggregate to lead Memphis to the victory over NC State Saturday. Her 1179 edged out her previous-best of 1175 that she shot in the Tiger Open, the 2018-19 season-opening match in late September.

Clark logged his career-best aggregate of 1177 versus the Wildcats Sunday. His previous-best aggregate was 1171 twice, with the last time coming in the 2018 NCAA Sectional Qualifier last February.

The Tigers are off from competition until Nov. 18 when they travel to Jacksonville, Ala., for the annual Gamecock Invitational.

Tigers Tidbits

The Tigers shot a team aggregate of 4674 in the setback to Kentucky. Sunday's 4674 aggregate was Memphis' best team mark since the Tigers recorded a school-record 4683 versus Navy in the 2014-15 campaign.
The 4674 aggregate versus Kentucky was the first time the Tigers shot 4670 or better since the 2015-16 season when they posted a 4671 aggregate at West Virginia.
The Tigers' 2355 air rifle score against the Wildcats was the second-best mark in program history. The team air rifle record score is 2358, which was set versus Navy in the 2016-17 season.
For the second time in a month, Leighton Dempster tied the school's air rifle record. She first tied the program's air rifle record of 596 at Army West Point Oct. 13. Dempster tied that mark in Saturday's win over the Wolfpack.
Dempster also posted a career-high score in smallbore versus NC State, winning the discipline with a 583.
Levi Clark improved on his career-high air rifle score, shooting a 594 versus Kentucky Sunday. His previous-best air rifle mark was 589 at Army West Point Oct. 13.
Sophomore Matt Dorey shot the second-best aggregate score of his career with a 1163 (580-583) versus NC State. He tied his career-high in smallbore with a 580. His career-best aggregate is a 1169 (580-589) versus Ole Miss last February.
Freshman Arielle Kimm shot her second-best air rifle score of the season with a 584 versus Kentucky. She scored a season-best 589 in the discipline in the season opener.
