Junior has eight top-25 finishes in his three seasons.
Today's Memphis cross country "Get To Know Me" is Matthew Kamph. A junior from Ewing, N.J., Kamph moved over to distance/cross country after joining the Memphis program as a middle-distance runner and made the quick adjustment.
In his three seasons running cross country, Kamph has been one of the program's most-consistent performers. He has eight top-25 finishes, including five in the top 10. He posted his career-best finish with a second-place performance in the 2018 Brooks Twilight Classic, and Kamph raced an 8k personal-best time in the 2018 Greater Louisville Classic.
Prior to Memphis, Kamph starred for the Notre Dame High School boys' cross country and soccer teams. In 2014, Kamph helped the Irish cross country squad to a second-place finish at the Mercer County race, which propelled the team to the program's first trip to the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Meet of Champions since 1990 – a span of 24 years. Kamph was the first Notre Dame runner to cross the finish line in the Mercer County race in 16thplace.
