Memphis Sweeps Rhodes Invitational for First Time Since 2015

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis men's and women's cross country teams swept their respective races at the Rhodes Invitational on Saturday morning at Shelby Farms Park.
The victories mark the first time since Sept. 26, 2015, that both squads earned the Rhodes Invitational title in the same season. With the wins, both programs claimed their seventh Rhodes Invitational victory in school history. Overall, the result marks the 15th all-time team title for the men's program and the 16th all-time team title for the women's program.
James Marimbe led the men's squad in the 8k, winning with a time of 25:50.60, closely followed by teammate Robert Randall in second at 25:52.40. Alex Bobak, Jackson Turner and Tyler Bickerman also secured top-10 finishes for the Tigers.
On the women's side, Reese McDevitt led Memphis in the 5k, placing third overall with a time of 19:11.20. Brooke Doyle finished fourth at 19:44.80, while Jasmine Williams and Grace Schaff rounded out the top 10 in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Marimbe and Bickerman were the sole Tigers to set personal bests during the meet.
Memphis returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
