Clark, Dempster place first, second in aggregate.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis junior Levi Clark and senior Leighton Dempster finished first and second, respectively, in aggregate score, but Navy won the match over the Tigers in weekend action at the R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range.

Memphis, ranked No. 15 in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll, fell to No. 7 Navy 4660-4639. The Mids won both disciplines by scores of 2309-2302 in smallbore and 2351-2337 in air rifle.

Clark shot a season-high 1168 aggregate (583-585) after posting aggregates of 1167 in the Tiger Open and against West Virginia and an aggregate of 1166 versus Army West Point. Dempster was second with her 1168 aggregate versus Navy.

The Tigers host NC State and Kentucky at the R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range this weekend. Memphis faces the Wolfpack Saturday and then welcomes the 2018 NCAA champion Wildcats Sunday. Both matches start at 8 a.m. (CT).

Tigers Tidbits

In addition to taking first in aggregate, Levi Clark won smallbore with a 583 score.
Leighton Dempster was third in smallbore with a 578 score.
Junior Amberlie Ezell shot her season-best scores in both disciplines versus Navy. She improved her smallbore result by 20 points and her air rifle score by eight points from the season opener (Tiger Open).
Freshman Arielle Kimm shot her second-best air rifle score of the season with a 583. She scored a season-best 589 in the discipline in the season opener.
With their aggregates from this weekend, Levi Clark and Leighton Dempster have shot over 1165 aggregate scores in all four matches this season. Clark has 11 career performances of 1165 or higher aggregates, and Dempster has eight.
