Tigers welcome UAB, UTM to open spring slate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Following a strong fall season, the Memphis women's tennis team begins spring dual match play as it welcomes UAB and UT Martin to the Racquet Club of Memphis Friday.
The Tigers will face the Blazers of UAB at 10 a.m. before closing the day against in-state foe UT Martin at 7 p.m.
Memphis returns sophomore sisters Josephine and Katherine Cao along with seniors Hanna Sohn and Anki Wind from last year's squad. Four Tiger newcomers seek to make their spring debuts, including freshmen Laura Bente, Lina Hohnhold and Alisha Reayer along with sophomore transfer and Memphis native Claire Sullivan.
UAB leads the all-time series against Memphis with a 21-19 advantage, but the Tigers are 3-0 against the Blazers under fourth-year head coach Hayden Perez. Friday's nightcap marks the first meeting between the Skyhawks and Tigers with Perez at the helm, while Memphis holds a 20-4 ledger all-time against UT Martin.
