Vandals score four unanswered to hand Memphis the loss

MOSCOW, Idaho – The No. 23 University of Memphis women's soccer team suffered a 5-4 setback to Idaho Friday evening. The Vandals rallied to score four goals in the second half to drop the Tigers to 6-2 on the year.

"My hat goes off to Idaho tonight," said head coach Brooks Monaghan. "They fought hard and had a lot of character tonight. We have to learn that we cannot take our foot off the gas. Ever. No matter who we are playing. We just learned our lesson. The game of soccer is 90 minutes and you can never take your foot off the gas."

Memphis scored early as Jessica Lisi converted a penalty kick in the 8^th minute of the contest. After Idaho evened up the match at 1-1 in the 18^th minute, Elizabeth Woerner scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season to give the Tigers the lead heading into intermission.

Out of the break, Memphis came up firing early with two quick goals by Lisi and Mikayla Morton to take a 4-2 lead. Marie Levasseur was credited with the assists in both Lisi and Morton's goals. In the final 25 minutes of the contest, however, Idaho scored four unanswered including the game-winning goal in the 87^th minute.

This was Lisi's first multi-goal match of her career. Woerner and Morton have now both scored in two out of the last three matches. Rachel Ashworth Shepard finished the match with five saves.
