Memphis got off to a quick start, grabbing a 6-0 win at one doubles and adding a 6-3 win at three to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
But Tulane got the match tied back up quickly with a straight set win at three. The Green Wave then took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at six singles before Memphis answered with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win at five singles from freshman Jan Pallares.

But the match swung back to the Green Wave's direction with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 win at two singles to tie the match at 3-all.
At the time of that win at two, the match at four singles was evenly split at one set apiece. Chris Patznovsky was up 2-1 in that match when all eyes moved to court four. He pushed his lead to 3-1, but Tyler Schick came back and took a 4-3 lead with a pair of service breaks.
